The mobile banking vision was simple: the banking customers of the future would do all their banking via their banks’ mobile apps. They would buy things via payment cards or, later, via Apple Pay; they would check their balance or make deposits through the banking app; the customer’s relationship with the bank would be mediated entirely via the app. In this new world, there was no reason for the physical bank location to exist.
